Steven Bowditch arrested for drink-driving in Scottsdale

Steven Bowditch faces a possible jail term after being arrested for drink-driving in Arizona in the early hours of Friday morning.
Bowditch was charged with "extreme DUI" by Scottsdale police, who apparently had to wake him at the wheel of his vehicle as he sat at a junction.
The Australian posted bail and was released from Scottsdale City Jail, and he continued playing in the Waste Management Phoenix Open on Friday afternoon but missed the halfway cut by several shots.
"I would like to apologise to my family, friends and supporters, as well as the PGA Tour and Waste Management Phoenix Open for the incident reported today," Bowditch said. "As I intend to fully cooperate with the authorities, I will not be making further comment at this stage."
The 33-year-old was arrested after being found to have a blood-alcohol content over 0.20 per cent, comfortably above the legal limit in Arizona. Anyone having a blood-alcohol content of over 0.15 per cent is charged with extreme DUI, which is punishable by a 30-day jail sentence and a fine of at least $2,500.
According to the Scottsdale Police Department, Bowditch, a two-time winner on the PGA Tour, was found asleep in a white pickup truck after a motorist reported that a vehicle had been swerving all over the road.
The truck, a courtesy car provided by the tournament, was located with its engine running after remaining stationary through two green traffic signals.
A PGA Tour spokesman confirmed they were aware of the reports, but would not comment further at this time.
Bowditch has endured a torrid run of form since racing to his second PGA Tour win at the AT&T Byron Nelson in May, 2015, missing the cut in 12 of his last 13 tournaments and slipping to 318 in the world rankings.
