Rafa Cabrera Bello believes his game is trending in the right direction as he looks to end his winless run at this week’s Hero Indian Open.
The Spaniard is the highest-ranked player in the field at DLF Golf and Country Club, where he hopes to claim a first victory since the 2012 Dubai Desert Classic.
Cabrera Bello made the 14,000km trip from Mexico after finishing tied-38th in the opening World Golf Championship of the year, following on from three early-season top-20s on the Desert Swing.
Although the world No 26 hasn't been able to replicate his fast start to last year, where he posted back-to-back runner-up finishes on the European Tour, he is still taking positives from his recent performances.
"It hasn't been as good a start as last year, but it's getting there," Cabrera Bello said. "The game is good, I just maybe haven't had that bit of momentum to really be competitive in the last few holes.
"I'm confident that can change very soon. I'm happy to be here and excited about competing here in India again."
Cabrera Bello will tee off for the opening two rounds alongside home favourites S.S.P Chawrasia and Anirban Lahiri, the last two winners of the event.
Chawrasia finished two strokes clear of Lahiri at Delhi Golf Club last year, 12 months on from finishing runner-up to his compatriot.
"The national Open is like our fifth Major," Chawrasia said. "I'm going to be giving it my best and hopefully I can carry the trophy again.
"Last year was a great year, it was my best year of my career. I'm trying to do better in 2017."
