Gavin Green almost jumped out of his skin when the horn sounded at the Indian Open, but he recovered to chip in for birdie

Gavin Green almost jumped out of his skin when the horns sounded to signal the end of a long third day at the Hero Indian Open, but he regained his composure to chip in for birdie.

The Malaysian was on a roll at the weather-hit tournament, which is behind schedule having lost over four hours of play over the first two days due to the threat of lightning at the DLF Golf and Country Club in New Delhi.

Green surged up the leaderboard with a sparkling run of six consecutive birdies in his third round, although a bogey at the 16th left him two shots off the pace as he sized up his approach to 17 in the fading light.

He was fully aware of the official behind him with klaxon in hand, but he clearly was not prepared for the volume of the blast when it arrived.

Perhaps that explains why he then carved his second shot wide of the green, but he regained his composure to finish the day on a high note when his perfect pitch found the bottom of the cup.
