The morning foursomes matches were shared at The Los Angeles Country Club, but the home side fought back from an early charge by Great Britain and Ireland, the visitors led led five of the eight matches at one stage, to secure six out of a possible eight points on offer.
Robert MacIntyre and Jack Singh Brar were the two victors for Andy Ingram's Great Britain and Ireland side in the singles while Norman Xiong and Dough Ghim secured narrow 2&1 wins over Connor Syme and David Boote respectively.
Braden Thornberry produced an excellent fightback to defeat Harry Ellis, winning the four of the last five holes to secure a hard fought 2 up victory.
America's Maverick McNealy proved too strong over the closing holes against Scott Gregory to earn a 3&1 success despite the pair having been all square at the 14th.

Gregory and Singh Brar earned a 3&2 victory over Scottie Scheffler and Champ, after Syme and McBride had claimed their victory over Doc Redman and Zalatoris by the same scoreline.
