Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed will renew their Ryder Cup partnership in the first day's play at the Presidents Cup on Thursday.

World number two Spieth and Reed, who has established himself as a talismanic figure in US team golf, are the third pairing out and will play the international pairing of Si Woo Kim of South Korea and Argentina's Emiliano Grillo.

USA captain Steve Stricker has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal including three of the world's top four players and it's the fourth-ranked player and Fed Ex Cup winner Justin Thomas who leads the team out on Thursday alongside Rickie Fowler, number eight in the world rankings.

They will take on the strong international pairing of Hideki Matsuyama, third in the world and enjoying a career-best season, alongside South Africa's Charl Schwartzel.

In the second group, international team captain Nick Price has paired Australian Adam Scott with Jhonattan Vegas of Venezuela. They'll play world number one Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar.

The fourth group sees South African duo Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace take on US Open champion Brooks Koepka and Daniel Berger.

Jason Day believes the International Team can beat USA in Presidents Cup

The event, which was first played in 1994, differs from the Ryder Cup in that it takes place over four days rather than three, and the first two days feature a single block of five matches rather than four matches in the morning followed by another four in the afternoon.

The fifth and final foursomes match on Thursday sees a pair of Aussies, Jason Day, the world number seven, and Marc Leishman, winner of the BMW Championship take on Kevin Kisner and Phil Mickelson who has played in every single Presidents Cup.
