Johnson posted a four-under 68 in breezy conditions to extend his advantage to six strokes, leaving him well-placed to become the first player in history to win third World Golf Championship titles in a calendar year.

The world No 1 is already a four-time winner on the PGA Tour in 2017, with Johnson keen to focus on his own game and add a sixth career WGC title on Sunday.

"I'm not worried about what anyone else is doing;" Johnson said after his round. "I've got enough to worry about with just myself, so it's kind of tough to worry about what anyone else is doing.

"I'm not going to change my game plan playing no matter what Brooks (Koepka) does, Henrik (Stenson), whoever is out there playing. I'm going to stick to it and hopefully execute it.

"I obviously always want to put myself in position to win, which I'm in a good position going into tomorrow. But I'm still going to have to go out and play a really solid round if I want to get it done."

Koepka carded a one-over 73 to slip back to 11 under, one ahead of Henrik Stenson in third spot after the Swede birdied three of his final five holes at Sheshan International.

"We're in pretty good shape, even though it seems we're playing for second place," Stenson said. "If Dustin keeps on playing the way that he's done this week, I think it's going to be a one-man show.

"But you never know. This golf course has a couple of holes where you certainly can have a number, so it's never over until it's over."
