Patrick Reed produced one of the recoveries of the season as he continued to put pressure on the leaders during the second round of the DP World Tour Championship.

The American lost his overnight advantage as defending champion Matt Fitzpatrick edged ahead at Jumeirah Golf Estates, but produced a moment of brilliance to avoid slipping down the leaderboard.

Reed rolled in from three feet to birdie the fourth and cancelled out a blemish from a similar distance at the sixth by picking up a shot at the next, before getting himself in trouble off the 10th tee.

The world No 23's tee shot missed the fairway to the left by some distance and finished in a horrendous-looking position next to the bushes, leaving Reed a blind shot through more trees to have any chance of finding the green.
