How Tiger Woods fared in the second round at Torrey Pines

Tiger Woods produced a battling performance as he just made the cut on his comeback in the Farmers Insurance Open.

Following a level-par 72 in the first round on the South Course at Torrey Pines, Woods headed to the North Course for round two.

After starting on the 10th hole, Woods put himself in trouble when he slipped to two over with a double bogey at the 13th.

Birdies at the first, fifth and seventh put him back on track, but there was still some late drama as he bogeyed the eighth before bouncing back with a birdie at the par-five ninth to finish with a one-under 71, putting him one inside the cut mark which came at level par.

Here's how his second round went:

Hole 10

Opening drive went way left almost onto South Course first hole. Line of sight relief as media centre in the way. Second shot into right-hand rough and found centre of green with third, but lower tier. Rolled putt 18 inches short and tapped in. PAR

Hole 11

Let rip off the tee at the driveable par-four but found rough on the left. Over-hit second shot through the green. Heavy with third shot but holed tricky 10-foot putt back. PAR

Hole 12

Fine tee shot, landed pin high and rolled back down the slope to within 12 feet, but birdie putt shaved the hole. PAR

Hole 13

Left off the tee again and in deep trouble in hazard, slammed his driver into the ground. Ball in a bush and unplayable, third shot badly left of green after drop. Chips over ridge and through green before two-putting. DOUBLE BOGEY

Hole 14

Centre of the fairway with a booming drive. 124-yard sand wedge landed pin-high but spun back to edge of green. Birdie putt swung left and he tapped in. PAR

Hole 15

Tee shot around 10 yards right of the green, chipped up within two feet and holed his putt. PAR

Hole 16

Another solid drive found the fairway. Flick with lob wedge from 90 yards but too heavy and into back of green well above the hole. Length just right with birdie putt but a little left. PAR

Hole 17

Pushed tee shot out to the right and found the bail-out area with his second shot. High-flop third ran 12 foot past pin and birdie putt limped inches left. PAR

Hole 18

Persisted with the driver but it was right again, thrashed second shot out of rough and to front of green. Well-executed chip left him a short putt. PAR

Hole 1

Edge of the green in two after drive and wedge and rolled in a perfect 50-foot putt. BIRDIE

Hole 2

Found the thick rough on the left this time - 197 yards to the pin - and he clubbed his second shot to the front edge of the green. Another fine chip left another simple putt. PAR

Hole 3

Three-iron off the tee drifted to the right of the green, but excellent pitch set up another tap-in. PAR

Hole 4

Solid drive, perfectly positioned 164 yards to hole. Second shot over 20 yards left and aggressive putt slid past hole, but made his three-footer back. PAR

Hole 5

Blazed away another good drive although it drifted into rough on the right. Decent second shot right of green and eagle chip swung right before he holed three-foot putt. BIRDIE

Hole 6

Wayward three-wood ended up 40 yards right of fairway after bouncing off path. Second shot onto bank right of green but delivered superb flop shot to a couple of feet. PAR

Hole 7

Left of the green at the driveable par four and delicate chip downhill left simple putt. BIRDIE

Poor swing but ball took a fortunate bounce left to sit off front of green at par three. Heavy second shot charged past hole and into the fringe. Weak putt three feet short but squeezed it in. BOGEY

Hole 9

Scattered the crowd again with a wayward drive down the right but second shot at par five bounced over bunker and onto green. Lengthy eagle putt came up just short and he holed out to loud cheers from the crowd. BIRDIE
