Minjee Lee claims five-shot victory at Women's Oates Vic Open

Minjee Lee won the opening event of the Ladies European Tour season with a five-shot victory at the Women’s Oates Vic Open.

The Australian fired a six-under 67 in front of huge crowds at 13th Beach Golf Links to get to 13 under and pull clear of nearest challenger Karis Davidson, who closed with a final-round 71.

Ladies European Tour order of merit winner Georgia Hall shared third spot with Australia's Hannah Green, who bogeyed the final hole, with Caroline Hedwall one of three players a further stroke back.

"I was a little bit nervous out there, coming down the stretch, but I think I put that pressure on myself, so it's nice to come out with a win," Lee said. "I don't think I've won at home since the Vic Open so it's really nice to win in Australia again."

Beginning the day with a one-shot lead, Lee extended her advantage by birdieing the third and eagling the fifth and adding again at the par-three seventh.

Lee bounced back from a blemish at the eighth to post back-to-back birdies from the 14th and add another at the par-five last, ensuring the world No 20 a second victory in the event.
