Matt Kuchar came so close to making TPC Scottsdale history during the final round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

More than 64,000 spectators packed in for Sunday's action, taking the week-long attendance to a PGA Tour record-breaking 719,179, where many congregated around the infamous par-three 16th.

Kuchar mixed seven birdies with three bogeys on his way to a four-under 67 in Arizona, seeing him end the week in a share of fifth, with one shot standing out from his impressive display.

The American attacked the flag at the Stadium Hole off the tee and saw his effort take three hops before trickling towards the cup, only to slow up a couple of inches short of a hole-in-one.

Although Kuchar was unable to join the likes of Tiger Woods and Francesco Molinari to have made an ace on the iconic hole, he was able to tap in his birdie putt to move up the leaderboard.
