Alvaro Quiros continued his upturn in form by taking a one-shot lead into the weekend at the Trophee Hassan II in Morocco.
The seven-time European Tour winner posted a two-under 70 in windy conditions at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam to get to seven under and a shot clear of Andrew Dodt.
Beginning on the back nine and holding a share of the overnight lead, Qurios went birdie-bogey over his first six holes before draining a 25-footer at the 17th for the first of three consecutive gains around the turn.
The Spaniard three-putted the fourth and dropped another shot at the sixth when failing to get up-and-down from the bunker, only to hole from 15 feet at the next to reclaim top spot.
Dodt recovered from bogeying two of his opening six holes to card three gains in a four-hole stretch from the eighth, before eagling the 12th and birdieing the 14th to sign for a joint-low round-of-the-day 68.
One-time leader Erik Van Rooyen sits in third after his one-under 71, with overnight joint-leader Bradley Dredge three off the pace alongside Austin Connelly.
Top seed Thomas Pieters birdied his final two holes to post a level-par 72 and make it through to the weekend, as former Masters champion Danny Willett missed the cut after a bogey-filled 79.
Last year's runner-up Paul Dunne fired a hole-in-one at the par-three 17th but still missed the cut after struggling to a four-over 76, with defending champion Edoardo Molinari also making an early exit following a second-round 74.
