No player has ever gone bogey-free through all four rounds at the Players Championship. Greg Norman was the closest to achieving a blemish-free week, dropping just one shot in 1994.

One

Sandy Lyle is the only British player to have won the tournament, defeating Jeff Sluman in a play-off in 1987.

Two

Only two players have claimed their first PGA Tour title at the Players Championship, as Craig Perks winning in 2002 and Tim Clark celebrating his maiden success in 2010.

Jack Nicklaus is the only three-time champion of the event, having won the inaugural event in 1974 and adding further victories in 1976 and 1978.

There have only been four European winners of the Players Championship, with Martin Kaymer the most recent in 2014. Sandy Lyle (1987), Sergio Garcia (2008) and Henrik Stenson (2009) are the others.

Only five times in Players Championship history has the contest required a play-off. Rickie Fowler was the last player to win after extra holes, coming through a three-man play-off in 2015.

Six players have won the tournament on multiple occasions, with Tiger Woods the most recent to do so when he claimed his second Sawgrass win in 2013.

Steve Elkington holds the largest winning margin at the Players Championship, finishing seven strokes clear of nearest challenger Scott Hoch in 1997.

Sergio Garcia became the eighth player to post a hole-in-one at TPC Sawgrass' 17th hole during last year's event, following on from Will Wilcox's ace the previous year.

Tom Watson never registered victory at The Players, despite finishing inside the top-10 on nine occasions. Nick Price is the only other player to have posted as many top-10s in the event.

2017 champion Si Woo Kim finished on 10-under-par for the week, leaving the South Korean three shots clear of nearest challengers Ian Poulter and Louis Oosthuizen.

Bob Tway took 12 shots at the par-three 17th during the third round in 2005, putting four balls in the water to post the highest score ever registered on the signature hole.

Aaron Baddeley has hit the ball in the water at the 17th hole thirteen times during his TPC Sawgrass career. Ouch!

Si Woo Kim became the youngest winner of the Players Championship, beating the previous record held by Adam Scott. The Australian was 23 when he won in 2004.

Six players have posted a nine-under 63 to equal the course record at TPC Sawgrass, with Fred Couples, Greg Norman, Martin Kaymer, Roberto Castro, Jason Day and Colt Knost the only ones to have managed it.

Since 2003, the PGA Tour have kept a record of how many balls have found the water at the par-three 17th. The record of 93 came in 2007, 50 of which were in the opening round.
