Europe Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjorn makes a surprise visit to a fan who wrote him a funny letter last week

Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn had a special surprise for one unsuspecting golf fan, after receiving a brilliant letter ahead of this year’s contest at Le Golf National.

Bjorn had an early shock withdrawal from his tournament plans, as West Hill monthly medal winner Stephen Atkinson said he was removing his name for consideration to represent Team Europe.

during the second round of the Trophee Hassan II at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam on April 20, 2018 in Rabat, Morocco.

The tongue-in-check message came as a great surprise to the Dane, with Atkinson also declining the opportunity to be a vice-captain because of his own role within the Babalou Golf Society.

Bjorn was not prepared to give up on the self-proclaimed world No 52,187 without asking him to reconsider, so he paid a visit to the amateur's Berkshire home and offered him a second opportunity.
