The Golf Foundation launches the GolfSixes League targeted at young golfers.

The second edition of the GolfSixes saw the European Tour event continue to innovate on the course and stars of the future were given the opportunity of a lifetime to take on their golfing heroes.

The Golf Foundation, which aims to make golf and its benefits more accessible to young people of all abilities and from different backgrounds, was invited to the Centurion Club to stage demonstration events of its new 'GolfSixes League' for 2018.

The project, a joint initiative with England Golf, seeks to inspire young golfers through its innovative, shorter team format, featuring 125 golf clubs from 25 regional inter-club leagues playing weekly team golf this summer in the UK.

More than 200 boys and girls from 16 local schools and six golf clubs competed together at this weekend's GolfSixes, held at Centurion Club, as they officially teed-off the new Golf Sixes League.

Sunday's final day saw eight young GolfSixes League players join European Tour players in the #GolfSixes Beat-the-Pro challenge on the 5th tee.

The concept, which sees squads of 12 juniors play six holes against other clubs in a Texas Scramble format, was created after a survey found many young people wanted to play fewer holes, in team formats and at different courses.

With additional funding by Sport England, the GolfSixes League is a significant expansion of a pilot project last year that featured six regional leagues, garnering highly positive feedback.
