Press conference on Friday

Mexican world number one Lorena Ochoa has announced her retirement. A statement on her official website, www.lorenaochoa.com, read: "Lorena Ochoa has confirmed her retirement from the LPGA, as some media reported today. "Lorena personally will let her motives and more details in this respect be known this Friday in a press conference in Mexico City." The 28-year-old from Guadalajara has dominated the women's tour for the last three years with 27 LPGA titles, including the 2007 British Open and the 2008 Kraft Nabisco Championship. Last year she married the chief executive of Mexican airline AeroMexico, while she has three children from a previous marriage. Wanting to spend more time with her family and her growing charity obligations are thought to be behind her decision.
