Bogey-free round gives Englishman the edge

Challenge Tour leader Robert Dinwiddie fired a superb six-under-par 65 to take a one-shot lead over Austria's Martin Wiegele at the halfway stage of the Saint-Omer Open in France. Englishman Dinwiddie admitted it was difficult keeping the importance of the tournament from his mind as he bids to claim a win that would restore his European Tour playing rights. The 28-year-old from Barnard Castle said: "You try to downplay the importance. Really you've just got to treat it like any other event, and just try to hit the best shot you can every time. I'm really happy with a 65." Dinwiddie had six birdies in a bogey-free card. Joint overnight leader Wiegele failed to build on his first-round 66 but his par 71 kept him one shot clear in second ahead of England's Jamie Elson and Matt Haines, and Mark Haastrup of Switzerland. Ireland's Colm Moriarty, who topped the leaderboard alongside Wiegele overnight, carded a two-over-par 73 to finish in joint sixth position, three shots adrift of Dinwiddie's lead. Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin, at world number 154 the highest-ranked player in the field, had a 68 to lie five shots off the lead.
