Martin Kaymer is up to fifth in the world rankings following his runaway victory in the KLM Open on Sunday.
The German was making his first appearance since landing his first major title at the USPGA Championship last month, and finished four shots clear of his main rivals in Holland.
Kaymer overakes American Jim Furyk in the standings while Dustin Johnson, who, like Kaymer will be making his debut in the Ryder Cup on October 1, is up to a career-high 12th.
Johnson put the disappointments of Pebble Beach and Whistling Straits behind him to clinch victory in the BMW Championship, the penultimate event in this year's FedEx Cup.
The American pipped Paul Casey by one shot at Cog Hill and the Englishman - who was overlooked by Europe's Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie - moves up to seventh in the world.
Padraig Harrington, who failed to qualify for the BMW Championship but was named amongst Montgomerie's three wild card picks, slips out of the top 20 for the first time in four years having begun the year as number five.
