American splitting from IMG but staying with long-time manager

Tiger Woods has confirmed he is parting company with sports management company IMG but sticking with long-time agent Mark Steinberg. The former world number one has been with Cleveland-based enterprise IMG since he turned professional some 15 years ago in 1996. Steinberg has acted as his agent for the last 12 years, but did not renew his contract with IMG last week and has now severed ties with the company. As a result there was some confusion over Woods' management status, but he moved to dispel the doubt with a message on Twitter on Monday. "Staying with Mark Steinberg. Total confidence in him. Excited about the next stage in my professional life. Fond memories of (late IMG founder) Mark McCormack," Woods posted on Twitter. Having sorted out his business arrangements, the 35-year-old will now look to focus his efforts on ensuring he is physically fit to compete in the season's second major - the US Open at Congressional next week. Woods withdrew from the Players Championship last month after just nine holes due to knee and Achilles tendon injuries and has been wearing a protective boot to aid his recovery process. He has insisted he is confident of competing in Maryland, but question marks still hand over his form. Without a win since November 2009, Woods has seen his stock fall dramatically and had slumped to number 15 in the latest edition of the world rankings.
