Country will become first Asian nation to host biennial event

South Korea will become the first Asian country to host the Presidents Cup when the event is staged in 2015. PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem said that an as-yet unnamed club will host the biennial tournament between the United States and an International team of non-European countries. Finchem said there were a number of options for a host venue but it will not be announced until next year. "This is an exciting announcement, it comes with the recognition of the development of elite players in Korea and Asia generally," he said. This year's event, which gets underway on Thursday, sees three South Korean players - KJ Choi, YE Yang and KT Kim - as well as Japanese tyro Ryo Nishikawa, involved. "I feel very proud that I picked up golf as a living," said Yang. "I have no doubt that this will improve the golf culture and golf market in Korea." Under the rotation system, America will host the 2013 edition at Muirfield Village, Ohio.
