Kraft Nabisco Championship: Suzann Pettersen forced to withdraw
Tuesday 1 April 2014 19:10, UK
World No 2 Suzann Pettersen has been forced to withdraw from this week’s Kraft Nabisco Championship due to an aggravated disc in her back.
The 32-year-old Norwegian also had to pull out of last week’s Kia Classic in Carlsbad because of the same problem.
Pettersen, who tied for third in the event last season, said: "I dearly love this event and would do anything to play.
“At this point, I just need to be smart and not make a bad situation worse."
Pettersen, who won four times last year and has 14 career LPGA Tour victories, also missed the season-opening event in the Bahamas due to a shoulder injury.
The Kraft Nabisco, the first major championship of the season, begins on Thursday at Mission Hills.
Watch the Kraft Nabisco Championship live on Sky Sports 4HD from 5pm on Thursday.
