Brittany Lincicome stormed into a three-shot lead after the second round of the Wegmans LPGA Championship in upstate New York.
Solheim Cup player Lincicome added a four-under 68 to her opening 67 at the Monroe Golf Club in Pittsford to ease away from the field but it was the big move made by Inbee Park that will grab a share of the headlines.
Lincicome started one stroke off the pace and dropped a shot at the first, but that would be the only blemish on her card by the end of the round.
She picked up shots at the fifth, ninth and 12th and then made a superb eagle at the long 14th to reach her closing score of nine-under.
Most of the other early leaders struggled on day two and it was left to Park, who could move back to No 1 in the world this week, to make the day's big move.
The Korean star struggled round in 72 on Thursday but 24 hours later proved a different player - she picked up four shots in her first six holes and after a bogey at her eight, made three more birdies to close with a 66.
She shares second place with overnight leader Lexi Thompson, who had three birdies and three bogeys in a level-par 72.
Teen sensation Lydia Ko is one stroke further back after a 69 alongside Meena Lee and late finisher Jane Park.
The European challenge is headed by Norway's Suzann Pettersen, who moved to four-under with a 69, and Spain's Beatriz Recari who shot a second successive 70.
