LPGA Tour: Christina Kim edges one stroke clear in Lorena Ochoa Invitational

Christina Kim holds a one-shot lead at the halfway stage of the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Mexico.

The American, who is chasing a first victory on the PGA Tour in more than nine years, posted a second round 69 to move a stroke clear of compatriot Paula Creamer.

Kim offset a brace of bogeys to rattle home five birdies including three in her opening four holes.

After 36 holes she stands at 10-under-par at Club de Golf Mexico and admitted it was a bit of a struggle.

She said: "I just kind of hung through it and just tried to enjoy myself. Overall, it was a good day but it was just very stressful."

The three-time Solheim Cup player last won on Tour in 2005.

Her nearest challenger Creamer posted a best-of-day bogey-free 65 after locating 16 greens in regulation for the second day in a row.

Norwegian Suzann Pettersen is the leading European at seven-under-par thanks to a second day 66 which left her in a four-way tie for third.            

Top-ranked Inbee Park was six strokes back in 10th – following a 70 – while Michelle Wie’s 69 left her eight shots back.
