Robert Allenby has withdrawn from this week’s Humana Challenge event in order to give himself more time to recover after he was beaten up and robbed in Hawaii last week.
The Australian will skip the PGA Tour tournament at La Quinta in California on the advice of his doctor.
The 43-year-old was left with cuts and bruises after the incident and wants to make sure he is fully recovered before returning to competition.
"This will enable me to ensure I am fully recovered prior to rejoining the PGA Tour," Allenby said in a statement.
"I anticipate a full recovery and look forward to returning in the near future.
"Once again, I would like to thank the local authorities in Hawaii as well as the PGA Tour for their assistance.
"I am also grateful for all the kind words of support I have received from so many people. Any further updates on the investigation will come from local law enforcement."
Allenby was abducted from a bar in Honolulu last Friday night after missing the cut in the Sony Open.
He was beaten up, robbed and dumped in the gutter from the boot of a car and he admitted he did not think he would survive the attack.
Watch the Humana Challenge live on Sky Sports 4 from 8pm on Thursday.
