Brandt Snedeker had a lucky escape on the 18th hole at the Arnold Palmer Invitational as his ball hit the rocks twice before landing six feet from the pin.

Brandt Snedeker enjoyed an amazing piece of good luck on his way to a four-under opening round 68 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

After starting on the 10th at Bay Hill, Snedeker had already made three early birdies when his approach to the 18th bounced off the rocks not once, but twice on the edge of a water hazard and onto the green.

“I came out with an 8-iron and hoped by some miracle it would clear,” Snedeker told Sky Sports 4. “Luckily, after the second rock, there you go, there’s my miracle! I’ve never seen that happen before. It’s pretty phenomenal.”

The 34-year-old American was unable to putt from six feet to make a fourth gain, but he picked up another shot on the fourth before recovering from his only bogey of the day on the seventh with a birdie on the next.

That left Snedeker on four-under alongside playing partners Henrik Stenson and Billy Horschel, a stroke behind the early clubhouse leaders.
