Rory McIlroy targets two more major wins in 2015

World number one golfer Rory McIlroy is delighted after an excellent year on the golf course and admits he doesn't feel any extra pressure when performing

Rory McIlroy is confident he can add two more major titles to his already bulging CV during the remainder of 2015.

The world No 1 is at Wentworth this week to defend his BMW PGA Championship title over the West Course in Surrey.

Asked about his chances in the major championships this season, the 26-year-old from Northern Ireland said: "I'm just trying to win as much as I can.

"There are three majors left and I feel two of those venues could suit me - St Andrews (The Open) and Whistling Straits (US PGA Championship).

"Chambers Bay at the US Open is a bit of an unknown quantity. But there are two great opportunities for major titles and a lot of other opportunities for wins.

"I'd also like to increase my lead in the World Ranking."

And looking back on the past year, which has seen him take over as the world's best player, he added: "The last 12 months have been incredible.

But which event did he enjoy most? "Even with all the personal success I’ve had over the past year, the Ryder Cup was the most enjoyable week."

On Tuesday, McIlory's excellent performances from 2014 was recognised as he picked up two more awards, as the European Tour's Golfer of the Year and the Players' Player of the Year.

American Brooks Koepka was another double winner as he received the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award and the Challenge Tour Graduate of the Year Award, after winning November's Turkish Airlines Open to go with four other top-10 finishes.

There were also celebrations for the full Ryder Cup team, accompanied by former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson who was invited by captain Paul McGinley to address the team before the start of the contest, while Welshman Jamie Donaldson won the Shot of the Year award for the approach which sealed the winning point.
