Tiger Woods needs victory at Wyndham Championship

Tiger Woods heads into this week's Wyndham Championship knowing that only a win will be enough for him to qualify for the FedEx Cup play-offs.
The former world No 1 hasn't posted a top-10 finish since 2013 but heads to Sedgefield needing a victory to move in to the top 125 in the FedEx standings and reach the season-ending play-offs.
The world No 286 blamed his 'awful putting' for a slow start to last week's PGA Championship, eventually missing the cut for a third consecutive major. Woods has now missed more cuts than in any year during his career, but remains upbeat about his chances in North Carolina.
"I just need to get more consistent with everything and starting to string together not just holes, not just rounds but tournaments," Woods told a pre-tournament press conference. "That is why this tournament is so important to me.
"Hopefully I can win here, get in to the play-offs and starting to play a bunch of golf. If not, then I've got a big break.
"Basically if I don't win this event, I'll start my off-season earlier and start getting ready for my early season tournament."
Woods features in the morning marquee group alongside Brooks Koepka and Hideki Matsuyama, with that three-ball available live from 12.50pm via the red button on Sky Sports 4.
The 14-time major champion initially raised doubts as to whether he'd feature this week when he told reporters he'd "decide in the next couple of days", but eventually decided to make an appearance in the event for the first time.
Woods said: "I wanted to see first of all how my body was going to be feeling after grinding out and trying to play Whistling Straits, but I was ready to go and am trying to make a push for the play-offs.
"The fact is I I've hardly played at all. I think this is only my 11th event of the year and I don't think that's a big sample size."
Defending champion Camilo Villegas is another player in need of a strong week to qualify for The Barclays, with the Colombian currently ranked 129th in the standings, while Ryo Ishikawa, Jonas Blixt and former major champion Ernie Els are among those in this week's field set to miss out as things stand.
