Bryson DeChambeau defeats Paul Dunne in US Amateur quarter-finals

Paul Dunne's US Amateur Championship campaign is over after the Irishman lost his quarter-final meeting with Bryson DeChambeau.
The 22-year-old from Greystones, who held a share of the lead after three rounds of last month's Open Championship, lost 3&2 to US Walker Cup star DeChambeau, who made six birdies at Olympia Fields on Friday.
Dunne could only hit three fairways and seven greens and just about managed to stay in contention over the back nine thanks to a run of crucial putts.
"[My] golf swing just wasn't there today," Dunne said. "I don't know what it was. I need a long range session to figure it out. So yeah, a little disappointing. Happy to only make one bogey.
"The way I was playing, I wasn't hitting it well. So managed to keep myself in it for a long time. Just Bryson had his game today. Five-under is hard to keep up with on a US Open golf course."
DeChambeau moved three clear by winning the 11th and 13th holes, halving the next three to secure a semi-final spot as fellow American Sean Crocker.
"I'm trying to keep the pedal to the metal and not let my opponent have any opportunity to win a hole, and that's been my whole game plan this whole week going into match play," DeChambeau said. "I hope I can do that tomorrow."
Crocker saw off Canada's Austin James in the last four, while world No 1 amateur Jon Rahm crashed out after letting a three-shot lead slip on the back nine against New Hartford's Derek Bard.
Kenta Konishi, looking to become the first Japanese winner in tournament history, recovered from being three down against Matthew Perrine to secure victory with a par at the last.
