Lydia Ko won the Canadian Pacific Women's Open for the third time on Sunday, beating Stacy Lewis in a one-hole play-off.

Ko, whose previous two wins came before she turned professional, finished with an even-par 72 to match Lewis at 12-under 276 at Vancouver Golf Club and force extra holes.

Lewis missed a nine-foot putt for par on the first play-off hole and Ko made no mistake from inside three feet to claim her third win of the season and eighth in total.

Ko won in 2012 at Vancouver Golf Club at the age of 15 years and four months to become the LPGA Tour's youngest winner and fifth amateur champion. The New Zealander successfully defended her title in 2013, also as an amateur, in Edmonton.

"It's been such an amazing week. I definitely share this win with everyone who came out here this week," Ko said.

"There were so many people out here after the Pro-Am after every hole; I was signing for five minutes and then getting to the next tee. There's a lot of people out here, so it great to see everyone. I just want to thank everyone for the support."

She was tied with Candie Kung on 12 under going into the final round, but neither was able to get going on Sunday as Lewis made relentless ground on the back-nine.

Lewis made six birdies, with her only dropped shot coming at the 15th but she could never quite force her way into the lead with Ko's round including just one birdie and a bogey at the ninth.

So-Yeon Ryu made the biggest move of the day to claim a tie for third place with Korean compatriot Sei Young Kim on 11 under, her round of 64 including six birdies and an eagle.

Kung had four bogeys on her front nine to drop way back and even birdies at 10 and 15 were only enough to lift her back into a tie for fifth with America's Alison Lee.
