Chris Kirk holds a one-shot lead after the opening round of the RSM Classic, as Russell Knox made a strong start in Georgia.
Kirk fired seven birdies and an eagle on his way to a blemish-free 63 on the Plantation Course, one of two courses being used this week, to edge ahead of Joel Dahmen.
Jason Kokrak is part of a three-way tie for third alongside Hudson Swafford and Brian Gay, while Knox sits four strokes off the pace following an opening-round 67.
"This is the first time in a while it doesn't feel forced," Kirk said of his putting. "I'm just looking at it, lining it up and whacking it."
Kirk followed two birdies in his first holes with a hat-trick of gains from the sixth to reach the turn in 31 and picked up shots at the 14th and 16th, before converting an 18-foot eagle at the par-five last.
Dahmen birdied his final two holes to grab second spot, while Nick Watney was the pick of the performers on the Seaside Course after a five-under 65.
Former FedExCup champion Brandt Snedeker posted an opening-round 67 in his first competitive appearance since June, with Ireland's Seamus Power also in the group on three under.
Defending champion Mackenzie Hughes lies nine strokes off the pace after a level-par 70, while Luke Donald was forced to withdraw from the event after suffering from chest pains.
