American leads by one in Puerto Rico

American George McNeill holds a one-stroke lead after the third round of the Puerto Rico Open. The 36-year-old birdied the final two holes to move to 14 under and snatch the lead ahead of Sweden's Henrik Stenson and Kevin Stadler. Overnight leader Matt Jones was a stroke further back after the Australian could only card an even round of 72. McNeill, whose only PGA Tour title came at the 2007 Frys.com Open, eagled the par-five fifth before coughing up those shots with back-to-back bogeys on seven and eight. He steadied with a birdie at nine before adding four more on the way home, including at the final two, to grab the lead. Stenson surged into contention with the equal-best round of the day as he collected eight birdies in his 65. American Scott Brown also went around the Trump International Golf Course in Rio Grande in seven-under on Saturday to be in a three-way tie for fifth on 10 under. Joining him were rising Japanese star Ryo Ishikawa, who bogeyed the par-five 18th, and countryman Daniel Summerhays.
