Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth to play together at Sawgrass

Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth will go head to head in the opening two rounds of the Players Championship at Sawgrass.

The leading two players in the world will be joined by seventh-ranked Jason Day in a star-studded three-ball on Thursday and Friday - they tee-off at 1:39pm BST in the opening round and 6:49pm on Friday.

Spieth denied McIlroy the chance to complete a career grand slam when he stormed to victory in the Masters at Augusta National last month.

Tiger Woods plays for the first time since the Masters, and first time since the announcement of his split from girlfriend Lindsey Vonn, and he has been placed in another marquee group.

Woods, who won at Sawgrass in 2013, plays with defending champion Martin Kaymer and Adam Scott.
