Zach Johnson is up to 12th in the latest golf world rankings after his memorable victory in the 144th Open at St Andrews.

The American has climbed 13 places from 25th after he got the better of 2010 winner Louis Oosthuizen and Australia’s Marc Leishman in the four-hole play-off which brought a fantastic tournament to a close.

Justin Rose climbs three places into fifth while Oosthuizen is up from 17th to 13th as a result of his fine display, with Leishman jumping from 61st to a career-high 27th.

Masters and US Open champion Jordan Spieth produced another excellent major championship performance but finished a shot outside the play-off and remains second in the rankings.

Rory McIlroy is still the World No 1, despite missing the defence of his title due to an ankle ligament injury he sustained playing football.

It's more bad news for former world No 1 and 14-time major champion Tiger Woods who drops down a further 17 places to 258.
