Scandinavian Masters preview

Big-hitting American John Daly makes a rare European Tour appearance at this week's Scandinavian Masters.

'Wild thing' Daly making rare European Tour appearance

The European Tour heads to the Arlandastad Golf Club near Stockholm, Sweden this week for the Scandinavian Masters, you can watch all four rounds live on Sky Sports.

The event has moved from last year's venue of Barseback in Malmo to Arlandastad, a flat parkland par 70 that is hosting a full Tour event for the first time.

There are five par threes, including two in the final three holes, meaning accurate iron play - rather than power from the tee - is likely be the key to victory.

No home player has won the since Jesper Parnevik in 1998 and, with Henrik Stenson and Niclas Fasth not competing, that may not change this week.

Parnevik plays host

Parnevik also triumphed in 1995, and is involved as both a player and host this week.

"I was the first Swede to win it, so it was a natural decision to get involved," he said.

"But I will never complain to a tournament organiser ever again - the logistics are enormous, it's so much to organise, I'm amazed they can have a tournament."

Karlsson carries home hopes

Robert Karlsson and Peter Hanson lead the Swedish challenge, in-form Hanson is the bookies' favourite while Karlsson will be looking to erase the memories of his play-off defeat to Marc Warren at Barseback 12 months ago.

Another Swede, Per-Ulrik Johansson, is fresh from his first win for 10 years at the Russian Open and will be keen to continue that form in front of his home crowd.

Lehman withdraws

The field is boosted by the presence of three former major winners from America - John Daly, Corey Pavin and Jeff Sluman all making rare forays across the pond.

Tom Lehman, the 1996 Open champion, had also been due to make the trip but was forced to pul out on Wednesday due to a wrist injury.
