Dane scrapes into world's elite
Denmark's Anders Hansen will make his debut in the Masters at Augusta next April after securing his place in the world's top 50 at year-end.
Hansen, who claimed victory in the prestigious BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth after beating Justin Rose in a play-off, clung on to 50th place in the rankings by just 0.01 points.
Australia's Robert Allenby, who led going into the final round of the Australian Open at the weekend, could have usurped him but slumped to a final round 75 which saw him drop to 11th place - good enough for only 51st in the list.
A notable absentee from the list of those already qualified for the first major of the season is Colin Montgomerie, who finished the year in 57th place in the world rankings.
However, Monty can still make it to Augusta by climbing back into the top 50 the week before the event or by winning on the PGA Tour.
Other Europeans already in the Masters field are Henrik Stenson, Robert Karlsson, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Soren Hansen, Paul Casey, Luke Donald, Nick Dougherty, Niclas Fasth, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, Ian Poulter, and Justin Rose, as well as former winners Bernhard Langer, Sandy Lyle, Jose Maria Olazabal, and Ian Woosnam.
