The Royal Trophy, which had been due to be staged between January 11th - 13th at the Amata Spring Country Club in Bangkok, Thailand, has been postponed following the death of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana. The country is in a period of mourning following the death of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 84-year-old sister on January 2nd, the princess having suffered from abdominal cancer. The Thai government has announced a 15-day period of mourning and asked that festive activities should be suspended during this time as a mark of respect. The Royal Trophy features teams from Asia and Europe, with the latter captained by Seve Ballesteros and featuring names such as Darren Clarke, David Howell and Paul McGinley. There is no word as yet as regards rescheduling the event, with the Royal Trophy's official website only stating that its "third edition will be held in the earliest date possible".
