The Golf Night panel reveal which players they'll be putting their money on at the US Open
Ahead of the US Open, the Golf Night panel stuck their necks on the block and gave their predictions as to who would emerge triumphant at Torrey Pines. All of the big names in the game will be battling it out on a tough course in San Diego in a bid to replicate the success of last year's winner Angel Cabrera and we should be in for a thrilling four or five days of action, live on Sky Sports. Denis Pugh, Mark Roe and Di Stewart were in the Golf Night studio to cast their eyes over the runners and riders and told us who they expect to end up in the winner's circle. And for the gamblers amongst you, the gang also named an outsider who might come up on the rails and emerge as a more unlikely winner. Here's what they said...Denis Pugh
Winner - Tiger Woods (2/1)I think he's prepared properly for this event. The odds are not great, but he knows exactly what's required to win, he loves the golf course and he's totally focused on winning. Outsider - Paul Casey (66/1)
Is Paul Casey an outsider? He's had some really good performances in majors, but he's a mood player. If he's in that mood with a smile on then he will be able to do it because he drives the ball well and putts the ball well.
Mark Roe
Winner - Tiger Woods (2/1)It's so unbelievably predictable, but I'm going to agree with Denis and go for Tiger Woods. I just think he has the strength to smash it out of the three-inch primary rough. 2/1 are fair odds on him because never in the history of the game has anybody been more prominently tipped. Outsider - Boo Weekley (66/1)
I love this guy. He is a hunt and shoot and fish kind of guy, he won the Verizon Heritage, he's sixth in the Ryder Cup standings and 12th in the Order of Merit. He's a great outsider.
Di Stewart
Winner - Phil Mickelson (7/1)I just think it's too much of an ask for Tiger to win this after two months out of the game and no competitive golf since the Masters. Phil loves this course, he's won the Buick Invitational here three times and he's won twice this year on the PGA Tour - and as recently as just two weeks ago. Outsider - Padraig Harrington (25/1)
You may ask how he can be an outside choice when he's a Major champion, but he's never won the US Open. He's had four top-10s this season on the PGA and the European Tour and he was tied-fifth at the Masters.
