Aussie leads by one at the Malaysian Open
Australian Adam Blyth produced a superb six-under-par 66 to top the leaderboard after the third round of the Malaysian Open.
Blyth, who made his professional debut at the event in 2005, holds a one-shot lead on 14-under par 202 for the tournament.
He has registered 11 career top-10s in the region over the past four years and he is now tantalisingly close to a career breakthrough at the $2 million event sanctioned by the Asian Tour and European Tour.
"My first pro event was here and I finished well so it was a good start to my career. It would mean the world if I can win any tournament, but here will be great," the 27-year-old, who knocked in an eagle and six birdies against two bogeys, said.
"But it's a long way away and we don't want to get ahead of ourselves.
"I think what I've been doing this week is staying in my game, staying in my process and staying in my routine.
"I usually get ahead of myself thinking that I can win. If I can stay in the process and give it my best, we'll see what happens."
Chasers
Chinese star Liang Wen-chong is a shot back after carding a 67 and he is tied for second with Sweden's Alexander Noren, who shot a 69.
Asia's former number one Liang closed his round at Saujana Golf and Country Club with two birdies and he is going for a third career win.
"I was steady off the tee and my putting was also very good," Liang said. "I will try my best and hope to secure a good result.
"In golf, anything can happen. But I feel relaxed and calm and will head out with a similar approach in the final day."
England's Miles Tunnicliff recorded the day's best round with a nine-under 63 to join Thai star Prayad Marksaeng (65) and American Anthony Kang (64) two shots off the pace.
Overnight leader Danny Chia of Malaysia is a further stroke behind after a 74 alongside India's Shiv Kapur, who shot a 66.
Chia staggered off the 18th green with a two-over round, but he will be glad to still be in the hunt after crashing out of contention with a round of 80 after leading last year.
