Wentworth champion straight back in action Stateside

Fresh from his victory in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth on Sunday, Paul Casey returns to action in the Crowne Plaza Invitational in the United States this week. The Englishman led from halfway in one of the European Tour's flagship events, eventually needing to birdie the final hole to beat Ross Fisher by a shot. Victory earned the 31-year-old a place in the world's top three and with the US Open just round the corner he is looking to build on an impressive season that has already seen him win Stateside for the first time. "There's lots of things on the list to try and accomplish and certainly major success is at the top of that list," he said. "I've tried to give equal weight to every event I've played in this year and try and prepare with equal weight, equal measure for every event. Maybe that's why things are going pretty well this season."

Sabbatini in the groove

Casey is part of a strong field set to tee it up at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, with three other members of the world's top 10 and 10 of the top 20 all in action. The Englishman will partner American Ryder Cup duo Jim Furyk and Anthony Kim in a marquee group for the first two rounds. Last week's winner Byron Nelson Championship, Rory Sabbatini, returns to the Colonial with fond memories after winning a three-way play-off there in 2007. The 33-year-old had not been in the best of form but found the key to his game at the Four Seasons Resort, firing four sub-70 rounds to win by two strokes. "One of the things I've always been struggling with is to try and maintain a consistency," the South African said. "It's nice to see that that consistency is starting to develop. Obviously, I had two bad weeks but I was able to flush those out and come back and play well."
