Overnight leader Chalmers signs for 69, sits in second spot
Frank Lickliter II fired a round of 63 to move into a one-shot lead heading into the final day of the US Bank Championship in Milwaukee.
Beginning his third round in a tie for 14th, the American managed eight birdies and just one bogey at Brown Deer Park.
Greg Chalmers, who had started the day with a two-shot advantage, signed for a 69, putting him on 10 under par for the tournament.
Lickliter's cushion at the top of the leaderboard could have been even greater had he not three-putted on the par-five 18th.
Changes
However, the 39-year-old - who has struggled for form since changing his swing - was happy enough as he raised the possibility of a first victory on the PGA Tour since 2003.
"It's a combination of a lot of things but part of it just having fun," he said.
"I'm enjoying hitting good golf shots, enjoying focusing and enjoying making birdies."
Australian Chalmers mixed three bogeys in with four birdies to sit alone in second, one clear of American duo Jeff Maggert (66) and Chris Riley (68).
Brendon de Jonge of Zimbabwe and John Mallinger both managed second successive rounds of 66 to leave themselves in a tie for fifth.
They are joined on eight under by Jeff Quinney, who birdied the last hole of his round for a 67, and Jeff Klauk (69).
There are a further seven players, including Wisconsin native Jerry Kelly, bunched together on seven under, four shots off the pace set by Lickliter.
Mathias Gronberg is the leading European in the field after a round of 66 moved him to four under. Brian Davis managed the same score to sit one further back, while Swede Jesper Parnevik is on level par after shooting 69.
