Eisenhower Trophy winners included in Walker Cup squad

Wallace Booth and Gavin Dear have been named in the Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup squad after their success at the World Amateur Team Championship. The duo helped Scotland to success in the Eisenhower Trophy in Australia last October and will now face the United States at Merion, Pennsylvania, on September 12 and 13. The squad will now travel to Valderrama from August 9-12 in preparation for the match and, unless a British or Irish player wins the US Amateur Championship at Southern Hills on August 24-30, that team will be confirmed. The final announcement will be made either after the US Amateur or when no eligible player remains in the championship. Squad: Wallace Booth (Comrie), Gavin Dear (Murrayshall), Tommy Fleetwood (Formby Hall), Luke Goddard (Hendon), Matt Haines (Rochester & Cobham Park), Stiggy Hodgson (Sunningdale), Sam Hutsby (Liphook), Niall Kearney (Royal Dublin), Chris Paisley (Stocksfield), Dale Whitnell (Five Lakes) Reserves: Paul O'Hara (Colville Park), Rhys Enoch (Truro)
