Paul Casey will miss this week's Barclays event but is hoping to return to action at the Deutsche Bank Championship.
World number three still undergoing intensive treatment on injury
Paul Casey is hoping to return to action at the upcoming Deutsche Bank Championship.
The Englishman is recovering from a rib muscle injury that forced him to miss the USPGA Championship at Hazeltine.
He has now confirmed that he will not participate in this week's Barclays event in New Jersey, the first leg of the US Tour's FedEx Cup play-off series.
However, Casey - who picked up the problem during a practice session before The Open at Turnberry - plans to play the following week in Boston.
Frustrating
"It has been a really frustrating few weeks and, of course, I was particularly disappointed to miss the PGA Championship," he said.
"I had hoped to be back out on Tour this week. However, I feel pretty lucky that it wasn't more serious and that the injury has responded to treatment so well.
"I am really hoping that it continues to improve and I will be teeing it up in Boston next Thursday."
Casey is still undergoing intensive treatment, including having a cortisone injection to the intercostal muscle to assist the recovery of both a tear and a strain.
The world number three was forced to pull out of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational during his opening round due to the problem and then had to miss the final major of the year.
