Aussie opts out of European Tour event in Switzerland

It has been confirmed that Adam Scott has withdrawn from next week's Omega European Masters in Switzerland. The Australian has endured a hugely disappointing season and fell out of the world's top 50 in the latest world rankings released on Monday. He has missed ten PGA Tour cuts this term and could well see his involvement in the FedEx Cup play-offs end this weekend if he does not put in a positive showing at The Barclays in New Jersey. However, whether he qualifies or not, the 29-year-old has made an early decision to skip next week's event in Crans-sur-Sierre. Scott needs one more European Tour start to be eligible for the season-ending Dubai World Championship. But he should secure that at the Barclays Singapore Open at the end of October with the European Tour announcing last week that the event is to become part of their schedule. Scott has twice won the tournament in Singapore in previous years.
