Faldo said: "As you could imagine it was quite something. This is a very special day, quite an amazing day. I am just delighted my family were there to see it. The whole procedure we have had today was just fantastic. A very, very proud moment." As for how this honour ranks alongside his many earned on the golf course, Faldo added: "This is incredibly special, something I have beaten a lot of golf balls to achieve. I had the desire to do that, to set goals, but to be honest I was never on the practice ground thinking one day I will be a sir. Absolutely never. So for this to happen is a very humbling honour."
