Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee has been voted the 2009 Asian Tour Players' Player of the Year by his peers. Jaidee clinched a third Order of Merit crown in a memorable season that saw him win twice, add a further three top-ten finishes and not miss a single cut all term. Victories at the Indonesia Open and the Ballantine's Championship in Korea took his career tally to 12 titles - the most wins by a player in Asia. The 40-year-old, a former paratrooper in the Royal Thai Army, also topped the Tour's 'Lowest Stroke Average' category, finishing with a superb figure of 69.09. "Thongchai has raised the benchmark higher on the Asian Tour through his terrific performances in 2009," stated Asian Tour executive chairman Kyi Hla Han. "He is a great ambassador of the game for the Asian Tour and will no doubt inspire many young players to achieve success."
