Mansfield ace guides Lake Nona to convincing win

England's Oliver Wilson was the star of the show as Lake Nona took victory in the Tavistock Cup in Florida on Tuesday. The Englishman - the only member of the elite 24-man line-up without a Tour win - took individual honours in the day two singles by carding a 65. That seven-under round, which included a birdie-eagle-birdie finish, helped Lake Nona to a convincing victory as the team of Wilson, Ross Fisher, Retief Goosen, Peter Hanson, Graeme McDowell and Henrik Stenson powered to a winning total of -43 after shooting a combined 18-under in the second round singles in which all six players' scores were added up. All Lake Nona's players broke par with Stenson shooting four-under 68, McDowell, Fisher and Hanson carding 70s and Goosen a 71.

Tiger on song

Ian Poulter (-4) and Tiger Woods (-3), showing further signs of improvement following his closing 66 in the WGC-Cadillac Championship, helped pre-tournament favourites Albany take second at -27 but over par rounds for Justin Rose (+1), Ernie Els (+2) and Trevor Immelman (+6) meant they finished a distant 16 strokes behind the winners. Arjun Atwal, the other member of their side, carded a one-under 71. Team Isleworth finished a further two shots back at -25. Robert Allenby was their main man as a 66 put him second behind Wilson in the battle for individual honours. American J.B. Holmes chipped in with a 70 but there was little joy for their other four players. Sean O'Hair and Stuart Appleby shot 73s, while Lee Janzen (77) and Brian Davis (78) struggled badly. Team Queenwood brought up the rear on -18. Their shining light was Adam Scott, who shot a five-under 67 to finish third behind Wilson and Allenby in the race for the Payne Stewart Salver Award. Thomas Bjorn (70) and David Howell (71) both broke par but it wasn't a day to remember for European Tour stalwarts Darren Clarke, Paul McGinley and Soren Kjeldsen who all returned 74s.
Day one
Isleworth had taken the honours in day one's better ball stroke play, with Davis and Holmes combining for a 12-under 60, a score matched by Goosen and McDowell of Lake Nona. The scores at start of day two read: Isleworth -30, Albany -28, Lake Nona -25, Queenwood -16 but Lake Nona were totally dominant on day two. While they shot -18 in the singles, Albany (+1) and Isleworth (+3) went backwards and Queenwood were only able to improve their total by two shots from -16 to -18.
