A preview and stats for this week's Accenture Match Play Championship at Dove Mountain in Arizona

Europe's leading stars head west to the desert of Arizona for this week's Accenture Match Play Championship at Dove Mountain. The top-64 players in the World Ranking have been invited to compete in this prestigious knock-out match-play tournament which was first contested in 1999. For a fourth straight year the tournament is being staged at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Ritz-Carlton course, having being held at the nearby Gallery layout in 2007 and 2008. There is little in the way of water hazards at this arid location, although the greens are reasonably large and with plenty of undulations. Good putters should do well on a four-year-old course that offers generously wide fairways but also has plenty of sand. So who's teeing-up? Luke Donald: The quiet assassin and defending champion. An extremely solid matchplayer - as his Ryder Cup record shows - the Englishman's accurate play will always make him a difficult opponent in this form of the game. Sergio Garcia: Semi-finalist when he last competed in this event two years ago. Finished strongly at Riviera on Sunday when he carded a 64 to claim a tie-for-fourth. Ian Poulter: Despite suffering a first round defeat as defending champion last year, the confident Englishman will always be a threat in matchplay. When the 36-year-old goes head-to-head, his total is invariably greater than the sum of the parts. Webb Simpson: The highest-ranked golfer not to have played in this tournament before, so should not have too many great expectations - which may work in his favour. Bubba Watson: A semi-finalist 12 months ago, the big-hitting American is second in the 'Greens in Regulation' category for the early weeks of the current PGA Tour season. Tiger Woods: The rejuvenated former world No 1 still has a long way to go to equal his form from the previous decade. However, he remains the most successful WGC Match Play champion in the competition's history, although none of his three victories were achieved on this course.
