Bubba Watson

When Bubba made his Ryder Cup debut at Celtic Manor he was involved in an incident that is probably better remembered than his record itself. When playing partner Jeff Overton holed out from the fairway he yelled "Boom Baby!" and started fist-pumping excitedly. Bubba then wandered over and joined in. He was almost certainly pumped up, but he looked a little less committed than Overton so it looked a little comical. Perhaps it is just as well we remember that because he lost three of his four matches so he has much to improve upon this year. On the other hand the 34-year-old from Bagdad, Florida has, in the meantime, come of age in winning the 2012 Masters. Few who watched that event will forget it. Watson was clearly as over-excited as always, but he managed his nerves and, more importantly, he played some stunning shots when it really mattered, particularly a stunning approach to the first play-off hole from the trees and bushes of Augusta National. He also formed a fine partnership with his close friend Webb Simpson in last November's Presidents Cup, winning three times.
