Dame Laura Davies remains determined to earn an unprecedented 13th Solheim Cup appearance for Europe when Carin Koch's side defend the trophy in Germany in September.

Davies faces a race against time to secure a place on merit as she currently stands 10th in the qualifying standings, and she feels she needs to win one of her next four tournaments to make the team.

The 51-year-old, who played in every Solheim Cup since its conception in 1990 before missing out for the first time in here career in 2013, also hopes to put herself "on the radar" in the hope of impressing Koch before the Swede names her four captains picks for the contest.

"I’m 10th on the points list at the moment, and I didn’t finish in the top-10 in Holland a couple of weeks ago so I didn’t pick up any points there," said Davies.

"I just have to win one of the next four events to get in the team. If I don’t do that, then I can’t see myself getting a captain’s pick, but if I have a good run leading up to the Solheim Cup then you never know. I just hope I can put myself on the radar."

Davies was speaking ahead of this week's ISPS Handa Ladies European Masters, one of the most high-profile events on the Ladies European Tour calendar with the likes of Charley Hull, Mel Reid and a host of Solheim Cup hopefuls in the field.

The Buckinghamshire Golf Club is once again the venue for the event, with the third and final rounds being screened live on Sky Sports 4 over the weekend.

"It’s going to be a hot week, which means the fairways should be really bouncy and a fast golf course for me is always a little more difficult," Davies added. "Keeping the ball on the fairway is going to be the biggest challenge, and the greens are also tricky so putting will obviously be a big part of it.

"But I only live 20 minutes down the road, so I’ll be in my own bed each night and that’s always a bonus. It’s just a fabulous course and a great venue, and it’s not far from London so the crowds are always very good. This is definitely a world-class event now.

"I finished third in Turkey at the end of May and thought I could go on a bit of a run, and then I missed a couple of cuts in America. But I’ve done okay in my last two tournaments, and if I can hole a few putts this week, who knows? But you've got to play your best here because it’s such a strong field this week."

Davies is also looking forward to heading back across the Atlantic after this week's tournament when she tees up in the US Women's Open, the event that provided her major breakthrough back in 1987.

It will be her first visit to the Lancaster Golf Club in Pennsylvania, and she said: "I don’t know a lot about the course, but some of the caddies have been over there and they’ve said it’s a course for good ball-strikers.

"Most US Open venues are, but this one is a little more generous off the tee and encourages big hitting so I’m really looking forward to it as the course should suit my game."
