Iconic Royal Birkdale images: Ian Baker-Finch lifts the Claret Jug

We continue our countdown to The Open by taking a look back at another iconic image from the Royal Birkdale archives as Ian Baker-Finch's daughter Hayley gets a taste of the Claret Jug after his win in 1991.

The Australian had started quietly with two rounds of 71 at the 120th Open, but a 64 in the third round was followed by a final-day 66 to hold off the challenge of compatriot Mike Harwood and secure victory by two strokes.

His third-round score was a course record at the time, although it was quickly beaten by Jodie Mudd's stunning 63 a day later. That would do nothing to dispel Baker-Finch's charge to glory, though.

"The Open Championship is the most special event of the year in golf," Baker-Finch said after his victory.

"Just to play in it is a thrill, and to win it is a dream. I was in a dream world when I was presented with that famous Claret Jug at Royal Birkdale."
