Rory McIlroy used Radar as a target early in his second round!

Rory McIlroy made a superb start to his second round at The 146th Open, birdieing three of his first six holes, and he used one of the Sky Sports team to help his cause.

The Northern Irishman made gains at the first, third and sixth to bring himself back into contention at Royal Birkdale, largely thanks to some terrific iron play.

However, Sky Sports' on-course reporter Wayne 'Radar' Riley also played a small part, acting as a target for McIlroy as he lined up his approach shot on the third.

After the ball had flown over him and landed eight feet from the cup, setting up another birdie for McIlroy, Radar told the world No 4 he thought the ball was heading straight at him.

"Well, sort of. You were actually a really good target," came the reply. "I thought, 'I'll just hit it over Radar's head.'"
